"But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!" Amos 5:24
Raymond's Story is a very personal look at how legal help can change a life.
At Access Justice, we seek to bridge the justice gap with compassionate legal service that depends largely on training clients to represent themselves. At our clinics, we provide the following legal services:
Legal "Urgent Care" Services
Our team provides clients up to 60 minutes of free legal assistance through our clinics. Our team addresses a client’s specific legal needs. Clients are educated as to their rights and trained on how to file court documents, prepare documents and pleadings and negotiate to protect their rights. Access Justice clinics do not offer on-going legal services.
Referrals to other Attorneys and Legal Organizations
When needed, we refer clients to other approved attorneys and legal aid providers for ongoing legal representation. We also refer certain cases to AJ Law, the legal services division of our organization.
Consulting with Nonprofit Organizations
We provide clients assistance in forming nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and provide guidance in the operation of those organizations. We charge a small fee for this service and the amount of the fee varies depending on whether the organization has a foreign aspect to the service being provided or proposed to be provided.
Conflict Resolution and Mediation Services
We provide conflict coaching to individuals or organizations in conflict and if our coaching services do not result in resolution of the conflict, we offer parties mediation services. Our conflict coaching and mediation services are based on the principles espoused by Peacemaker Ministries and our goal is biblical restoration of the relationship between the parties. Several of our attorney volunteers have been trained through Peacemaker Ministries.
We offer education seminars to give clients an overview of their general legal rights in various areas of the law. These seminars may include topics such as expungement rights; tax preparation; immigration issues; estate planning; custody issues; conflict resolution; debtor creditor issues; and landlord tenant issues. We also provide educational training for our attorney and paralegal volunteers to provide CLE approved seminars on areas of the law we experience most regularly at our clinics.
